If you’re looking for something else to play until Blood Bowl 3 launches, check out our list of crazy sports games for people who hate sports. There’s no reason they should rush Blood Bowl 3 out the door so here’s hoping they give Cyanide as much time as they need to work on it. Nacon has a bunch of other interesting projects in the works, including an amazing-looking Soulslike known as Steelrising. And I think both Cyanide Studio and publisher Nacon know that. Blood Bowl 3 definitely needs more time in the oven if it wants to live up to its predecessor, let alone surpass it. I wouldn’t be surprised if the game ended up getting pushed back even further.

The commentary and cutscenes were some of the best parts of Blood Bowl 2, but I didn’t particularly enjoy seeing them rehashed in Blood Bowl 3. I expect we’ll have a lot more customization options to work with once the game officially launches.

By comparison, its predecessor only launched with eight. Blood Bowl 3 launches August 2021 on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S and Nintendo Switch, publisher Nacon has announced. While the Closed Beta only featured four playable races, Blood Bowl 3 is set to launch with no less than twelve of them. Cyanide certainly made some interesting improvements in those areas. Technical issues aside, let’s talk a bit about the playable races and the customization options. But I’m not going to dwell too much on these because you’re likely to encounter those sorts of issues in any game that’s still in development. Such as visual glitches, players clipping into each other, broken player name generator, and more. I also ran into a couple of other problems during the Closed Beta. Hopefully, Cyanide Studio will fix the problem before announcing another playtest because it doesn’t reflect well on the state of the game as a whole.
Needless to say, being forced to quit every match prematurely because of this issue put a damper on my enjoyment of the Beta. Idoneth Deepkin could be a cool alternative (or addition) to the Elven Union, and a squad devoted to Tzeentch could win their games through magic and trickery. This may annoy Blood Bowl purists who want it to remain in the Old World and separate from Age of Sigmar, but I can’t help but think how cool a bashy Sylvaneth team would be, or that a heavily-armoured Kharadron Overlord roster could become even more hated than regular Dwarves. I also think that Blood Bowl 3 could add teams from more in-game races.

I want to have women on my team full stop! Unless you play as the Amazons, that’s not an option at the moment. I want to be able to do a Chelsea-era Mourinho and tell all my players to shave their heads - yes, including the women - if they’re getting too big for their boots. I want to play The Sims with my team and customise every player to the extreme.
I want to be able to recognise them on the pitch without having to hover over them and see their name. While I want to be able to field more racially diverse rosters, I also want players who are short, tall, fat, and thin.
