David, the son of Daniel & Sarah (Dempsey) Murphree, was born in Orange Co., NC about 1760. Joseph being the son of John & Eleanor (Little) Cornelius. There has been a suggestion that she is the daughter of Joseph & Jemiah (Mason) Cornelius. Some researchers believe her to be born in SC but again, not proven. Jemima Cornelius 1772-1860: Jemima may be the daughter of Wm and Anne (Phillips) though I have seen no documentation of this. He lived from 1796 to Aug 1809 in Franklin Co., GA. Notes The Murphree Quarterly, Sep 1977, page 3 states Rowland Cornelius (probably a brother to Jemima Cornelius who married David Murphree) is said to have been born in VA, 1755-1756 and to have died in Madison Co., AL in 1822. His son Martin moved on to Old Town, Calhoun County, Mississippi. They arrived in Airmount, east of Coffeeville, Mississippi in 1835 with their children and friends in 30 ox drawn wagons.
